Photo Themed Video from 2D Photography – Rube Goldberg

If you haven’t seen a Rube Goldberg project work, then you’ve never seen the OK GO Video or Honda Commercial. These big projects took months of planning to create for only 4 minutes of a finally. But last year, a Canadian photography company called 2D Photography created a photo themed Rube Goldberg with donated items as well as some of their own. This is not only a video to watch and figure out where they got all those Gorilla pods or why they would smash a lens, but how the hell they did it.

It’s an amazing video, so make sure to watch the whole thing.

This is our first photosode where we’re actually not the expert at the topic at hand, in fact we know very little about this week’s photosode. So we bring Jen who’s a professional make up artist to talk to us about her techniques while she’s putting make up on our model Mylinh. In this photosode you’ll see the step by step process from start to finish on what a make up artist does to a bride. You may or may not know that make up and hair can completely transform someone’s appearance, and if done right, make up can turn you from awesome to super awesome.

We have a treat for you, we really do. We’ve changed everything! Everything. In this episode, we’re on location, we have a sexy swimsuit model, and we have a live shoot! It’s very very exciting! And in case you missed it, we said we have a sexy swimsuit model Lana. Sexy. Swimsuit. Model. Lana. And for the technical boring stuff, we’re using studio lighting with a variety of modifiers and diffusers so you can see the differences.

Episode 15: More flash!

We realized that our last flash episode received great response, so we wanted to do another episode with flash, and this time we’ve brought a lot more to the table (pun intended.) Not only are wee using and show you more products, we also have two more additional angles/cameras and we have an actual model. In our first episode you might remember that Nathan and Erich were each other’s models, but let’s admit it we’re not very pretty. So we brought in somebody pretty today.

A couple of the different tools we used were a mini beauty dish, a flash bender, and a little bit of off camera flash. It’s a little bit of everything and that’s what we like. We wanted to show you the variety of effects given by the diffusers because depending on the look that you want, you’ll need a different diffuser (or maybe no diffuser at all.)

We hope that you enjoy this episode like all our other episodes and stay tuned for our next episode in which we plan to bring in another model!

We changed it up a little bit this week, and instead of talking about something related to the technical or creative side of photography we go over something that we would say is just as important if you’re a (aspiring) wedding photographer: the consultation!

Think about it. It’s the first time they meet you and first impressions are everything! You could have the best work in the world, but if you’re not vibing with the client and if there’s awkwardness, chances are you probably won’t book the client. Unless you’re incredibly good looking like Nathan…or Jasmine Star.
